We are now living in an era where many people believes that they can simple do what they want to do and that is okay, there are no consequence for their actions. But that is not what the Bible teaches. The Bible let us understand that our actions indeed has consequences, or blessings.
Throughout the Bible they are many examples of nations and people who had forsaken or turn their back on God and instead walked in their own destructive ways. Even though it seems that they were prospering and God was not seeing their sins, they all eventually faced the consequences of their actions. These examples have taught us that the nation or people who forsake God and goes against the word of God will reap unto themselves destruction. It is not that it is God’s will for anyone to be destroy, however, sin brings with it destruction.
The bible let us know that “there is away that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death (Proverbs 16:25) for man cannot direct his own step (Jeremiah 10:23) but it is the Lord that directed his steps (Proverbs 16:9).
When we think of a nation or people who forsook the Word of God and followed in their own evil ways most of us will readily think of the Children of Israel, God’s chosen people. The Children of Israel were given the promise by God that if they should obey the Word of God all the days of their life they shall be a prosperous people, a nation that do not borrow, masters and not slave; however, if they should turn their back on God and worship other gods and do evil in the sight of God then they shall be a curse people and will be devoured by the nations around them (Deuteronomy 8:6-20; 27:15-26; 28:1-68)
Just like the Children of Israel were destroyed when they turned their backs on God; when we walk contrary to the Word of God we are giving Satan and his servants’ legal rights to put curse of destruction, poverty or any other curse upon us. Today, there are lessons we can learn from their mistakes or errors, and thereby not making the same mistakes they made.

What Happen To Israel When They Forsook God’s Commandment?
A large part of the Old Testament is written about the apostasy of Israel and other nation and the consequences of such rejection against God; this just prove that God allows us to live as how we chose, but at the same time no sins will go unpunished (Ecclesiastes 11:9;12:13-14).

When the Children of Israel turned their back on God……
- God turned his back on them. It is a very sad thing when the Lord turned his back on you as it leaves you open to many ills. When God turned his back upon Israel they became slaves even in their own country (2 Kings 24-25).
- They had to endure harsh economic condition. The people who the Lord promise that they will lend to nations and not borrow was now living in poverty. Starvation and high prices were so rampant that they turned to cannibalism (eating other human beings)- Deuteronomy 28: 53-57; Jeremiah 19: 9; 2 Kings 6: 26-29
I strongly believe that one of the main reasons why many countries economy is going downhill is because of the sins of the people, and leaders.

- God allowed pestilence to torment them and to destroy their crops.
All these calamities came upon Israel as a result of them turning their backs on God. However, God never destroyed an individual or a people without first warning them and giving them a chance to repent as he is a caring, longsuffering and merciful God (Romans 2:2-6). For years God sent his prophets to literally beg them to turn from their wicked ways; but they refused and at times beat, mocked and kill God’s prophets that were sent to them. In like manner, God is warning us today through his servants, calamities and the Bible like he did thousands of years ago; but like the Children of Israel many of us laugh, beaten and mistreated God’s servants and the Bible. Rejecting God’s servants and his Word are a direct rejection of God himself.
Let each one of us examine our own conduct to see if our lives or in line with what the Bible teach as the Bible let us know that, “cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord” for they shall not prosper, “but blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him” (Jeremiah 17:5-6). Furthermore, the things that happened to the children of Israel and other nations that the Lord destroyed were written for us, that we will not fall in the same trap as they did (1 Corinthians 10: 11).
Do not be deceived by the enemy to think that if you escape judgment in this life you escape it in on the day of God’s Judgment (Ecclesiastes 3:17; Romans 1:2-6).
Therefore my friends,
“Rejoice o young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes; but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgement. Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh….”-Esslesiastes 11:9-10
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil”- Esslesiastes 12:13-14
“And these (those that do evil) shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal”-Matthew 25:46.
